Nevada County’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony Presented by the American Legion Post 130 In Support of First Responders
Monday, September 11th at 9:01am On Mill Street, Grass Valley
The ceremony is being staged by the American Legion, Chamber and City of Grass Valley. It will be short but touching. One of Grass Valley’s fire first responders will relay the story of his 9/11 stair climb after the New York attack. The memorial bell will be rung as victims are highlighted. Rifle volley and taps.
Lou Conter’s 102 birthday is approaching. I’m working with his family to stage a “Drive By” celebration in honor of Lou. If you are interested in participating let me know. There will be a limit on the number of cars.The event plan is that in general we’d drive by, march by, his residence and honor him while Lou and Family watch from his front yard. Lou is doing OK but you can imagine that at 102 his mobility is limited. Let me know that you will participate. As we work through this is the next week or so we’ll have details. I would estimate the drive/walk by will take place Wednesday Sept 13th about 11am. Let’s Honor our last survivor of the Arizona attack and those lost at Pearl Harbor.
