I really like the Townsmen Show in Loomis. Probably the best place for a car show anywhere. I am sure most of the Roamin Angels are familiar with it. It is kind of compact with a park and the two restaurants using the parking lots for show cars. The Taylors Burgers and the Bar and grill are across the driveway from each other. Taylors has great burgers and the best milkshakes anywhere… One Hundred flavors!. Worth a ride down from Grass Valley on a warm evening for a cruise for one of their shakes. The Bar and Grill has beer and wine and both places have plenty of outdoor seating in the shade.The weather was good, not too hot with a little breeze. The Bar and Grill has an outdoor window also and nice patio. There is a park and playground for the kids with clean indoor restrooms and even a little Loomis Museum. I spoke with the president of the Townsmen and he said they had 215 cars with a few no shows with so many shows and events going on that day he thought they might have gone to other events. I also spoke with Bob Stearns of the California Car Club Assn. who was very familiar with the Roamin Angels. I also talked to Tim Newey who publishes the Nor Cal Car Culture newsletter that has lots of good info about the classic car hobby and events. norcalcarculture.com…A little name dropping from your roving reporter! His brother Rich was also there. He owns Route 40 Classics in Citrus Heights and did the restoration on my 55 Chevy.
