On Saturday, December 11th, sixty-six Roamin Angels and guests attended the Roamin Angels’Together for the Holidays’ Christmas party held at the Nevada City Elks Lodge.
The evening started with our club photographer, Edie H., taking ‘prom’ photos of the attendees. Then, to officially start the evening, Christmas carolers– 14-17-year old boys from Boy Scout Troop 232 – that were fun and at times funny with props and special sound effects, entertained us.
Visiting with friends and listening to music gave us all a chance to get into the Christmas spirit. The Elks, once again, did a fabulous job with the Prime Rib and Salmon buffet. After a delicious dinner, Santa (Ken Basile) and his ‘reindeer supervisor’ (David Blakley) handed out Christmas gifts to all the attendees.
This year’s Christmas committee did a wonderful job on the decorations which included the unique and beautiful centerpieces of papermache´ houses – each sporting a classic car or two. The centerpieces were raffled off and the winners were happy with their piece of classic art. Be sure to check out the committee at work and the house centerpieces.
This year’s Christmas Committee was led by Susan Barry and Diane Blakley. The centerpiece artists included Jo Ann Basile, Dee Ann and Bruce Bellows, Patricia Gruwell, Janet Hessel, and Karin Robinson.
The band, Rewind – Press Play, provided the excellent dance music and Elvis made a surprise appearance looking very festive in his white sequined jumpsuit.
All in all, the comments were happy and favorable with everyone enjoying themselves.
…And we heard them exclaim as they drove out into the night…“Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night!”
