MISSION STATEMENT: To restore and maintain classic cars and street rods in a way that brings people together, preserves vintage vehicles and contributes to the community.

Hot Boards and Hot Rods

We had a great meeting in late January with members of “Nevada County Skate” which is all about Skate Boarding, the City of Grass Valley which will be opening its’ redone skate park, the City of Nevada City which will be building a new skate park and our club members who were in on the birth of today’s skate board.

Hot Boards and Hot Rods” is the idea.

If you were at the club’s ‘pik nik’ at Condon Park last Fall you likely saw the kids coming down from the temporary rink and stopping to visit and admire our Rods parked in the BBQ area. Several of them asked questions and yak’ed  with us owners.

The lights went on.

How can we connect with these kids? How can we show them our hot wheels and stir their interest? Their hobby has a huge base. How can we appeal to it to help our event, “Cruisin the Pines”?

The answer?

The Club will stage “Hot Boards and Hot Rods” at the grand opening of the Grass Valley Condon Park skate park on April 18th. We’ll provide lunch for the kids and families. In September the skate club will bring some portable  ramps to the Fairgrounds and do a day of demos and lessons. The City of Nevada City will also be present to focus on their construction of a new skate park. Both will draw from all over Northern California.

The other component?

We hope to also bring in NUHSD’s new electronic driver trainer stations. The kids can try driving in them and …. gee….. can we maybe turn some on by letting them sit in a Rod?

If you can help with the BBQ on April 18th for an hour or so, step up. We’ll display a few Rods in front of the skate park for feel and photos and park some cars down in the BBQ area.

Board Members with the “Nevada County Skate” club” will also be at our first 2026 Car show Meeting on March 24.

Ummmm, wonder what a few loud dragsters might add to all this?….. tune in Next Month!
