The weather has really gotten better, and the Hot Rodders have started to return in great numbers. This week we had about 70 cars according to Marty.I found the owner of one of [the Editor’s] favorites, the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird. Randy has owned three. This is his second 77. His first he had for 20 years and then decied to sell it.He decided that he wanted another and purchased his current car aand has had it for six years. It is a fine example with the 455 Pontiac engine and four speed. He changed the wheels from the snowflake pattern to the honeycomb, cause he liked them beetter. The paint is original and is in excellent condition for its age.It looks like it has been garaged its whole life, with no checking or fading in the paint. Cameros were much more popular in the 70’s than the Trans Am, as the Camero was smaller and cheaper. When the” Smokey and the Bandit” movie came out, the popularity of the Trans Am skyrocketed, but the Camero was still more popular. I would rather have the Firebird myself, more power and faster, and I’m a Chevy guy.
I also found a beautiful build of a 1956 Nomad ownnd buy Jane. She is from Fairfield and a retired tuck driver like myself ,so we hit it off, swaping stories about our adventues in the concrete trucking business. The car was her late husbands who built the amazing Chevy big block blown 502.The interior has been meticulously restored with new electronic gauges to look original It has a Lokar shift and a beautiful pearl white over metallic “Sunrise Orange” painted at a shop in Fairfield, it is excellent. She said “ I have to be careful as if I get on it, it’ll snap my head back!” Hope all is well, Keep the wheel side down!
