Up early at 6:30am, we decided at the last minute to attend the Maxwell parade and car show. There is also a rodeo at the same time as the car show in the adjoining area.
The Roamin Angels group who were going to drive to Maxwell together cancelled due to the inclement weather and high wind warning predictions.
Our instructions were to sign in for the parade at 9:00am. We made it to Maxwell (a small town off Interstate 5 near Williams). There was lots of excitement for the children, throwing candy from their float, and others grabbing it along the parade route. We won a second place ribbon for the parade. After the parade, we parked In the grassy school yard for the car show. Many others had cancelled out, so there were less than 100 cars.
Lunch in the school courtyard – reasonable prices – Bill had a GOOD hot dog for $2. One could purchase burgers, beans , salad, etc.
Inside the school building, we viewed the students art show – – – Small human like sculptures made from scrunched aluminum foil, and other projects the students had made. It was very interesting, and good to get out of the rain for a while. The rain started mid day just as predicted.
Raffle prizes were given out to almost every entrant. Each bag included two large bags of white local rice, two cheeses, and a jar of Deli olives & peppers from Granzella’s.
The awards were given out earlier than usual, as everyone was anxious to get out of the rain, was not too windy.
The rain was on and off again on the way home, and we arrived home around 3 pm.
Bill has been a regular at this show for several years. Despite the rain, we enjoyed the day!
