Terry - PresidentPresident's message

Thanks to Glenda A. and Nancy J. for co-hosting another great Roamin Angels Christmas Party. The Alta Sierra County Club was beautiful; the food was great; the Choir of Angels entertained and delighted; the guests danced to the sounds of Mad Dash; and the 2013 Service Awards were handed out to 9 very worthy and hardworking members. All in all a fun way to wrap up another great year of Roamin Around and Around and Around.

I also want to pass along a great big THANK YOU to Mike and Pauline W. for organizing the 2013 Roamin Angles Toy Drive. Although the weather didn't cooperate, the crowds plowed their way through the rain and snow and there were so many toys collected that the Club was able to donate a bunch of them to the kids in residence at the new CORE facility in Grass Valley. Another very successful Toy Drive is in the books.

The Energizer Bunny, otherwise known as Pat G. did her magic again to assist the Salvation Army with their registration efforts to get needy folks signed up. And then she performed another small miracle by getting all of the toys, blankets, towels, etc. organized and ready for distribution and organized a small army of Angels to actually get all of these gifts handed out. GREAT JOB, PAT.

2014 is going to start off with a blast from the past. The Club will participate in the ACCC Sponsored "Clubhouse" Exhibit at the 2014 AutoRama. Dave Garber is chairman of the AutoRama Committee and is lining up 25 trucks to exhibit at the show. I got a phone call from Rex Roden, President of the ACCC and he is thrilled that the Roamin Angels are returning to AutoRama.

The Club Engine Trailer will also be back in service in 2014 with a new Chevy 350 engine and will be on display at AutoRama thanks to Mike W. and Ash R. who have taken on the task of co-chairing this year's Engine Raffle Program. The net proceeds from the Engine Raffle will be shared by the Scholarship Fund and the Toy Drive Fund. Mike and Ash will be asking for some volunteers to help sell Raffle Tickets at AutoRama which is traditionally the best venue for selling tickets other than at our own car show.

The 2014 Annual Membership Meeting is also on the calendar for Tuesday, February 11th at the Grass Valley Elks Lodge. All members are invited and encouraged to attend this yearly, official event. On the agenda will be the re-introduction of the 2013 Service Award Winners and the announcement of the 2013 Member of the Year Award. As usual the Club will provide the pizza for our annual Pizza Feast. Please put this date on your calendars, smart phones, tablets or whatever you're currently using.
